Paul Newman Camp For Kids

Who Are Some of the Positive, Male Role Models in Hollywood?

Out of all the male actors/celebrities on TV and in the movies (past and present) who do you feel are some positive, male role models? What makes your choices good role models?

My list would include:

Robert Redford for his support of environmental causes and Native American rights, and for his work with establishing the Sundance Film Festival

Paul Newman for his work to establishment the Hole in the Wall Camps for seriously ill kids and for breaking the stereotypes of what senior citizens are like.

Brad Pitt for growing into a man with deep convictions to causes he cares about like The Pink Project, Make it Right.

Will Smith and Tom Hanks for appearing to be genuinely well adjusted and happily married in a business that makes those two things hard to do.

Phil Donahue and Anderson Cooper who both have great creditably in tough career fields.

I agree with you on Robert Redford, Brad Pitt and Tom Hanks. I also think others have been right to answer with Denzel Washington. I’d put Johnny Depp on my list too because even though he suddenly got enormous star power, he’s not being corrupted by it and still does his charity work. I also really admire Mike Farrell (played B.J. Hunnicutt on M*A*S*H) for what he’s done with his life. His human rights and international aid work is amazing in and of itself.
