Is it okay to tell an older married man he’s handsome?
Today I saw one of my father’s friends from high school, whom I’ve met about 3 or 4 times in my life, I’m 21 now.
My dad introduced me sort of, since it’s been years since we saw him last. And the friend made a comment about how beautiful I grew up to be, he said it in front of his wife and my parents, so it wasn’t a big deal, just a statement. Later before we left he joked to my dad again saying “She must not get her good looks from you”. This got me thinking, would it have been okay for me, as a 21-year-old to have thrown the “you’re good-looking” comment back to him? (This guy is a Paul Newman look-alike). Or would that have been inappropriate?
That is nice of him.
It is best to say, “you haven’t changed.”
Leave it at that.
