in the movie “the color of money” with paul newman and tom cruise, what does vince mean when he says to eddie “you used me”; how did eddie use him? thanks, i just don’t really get it.
Eddie was using Vince to reclaim his youth, the youth he lost when he took on Minnesota Fats and then told his handler that he would not work for him ever again. This was back in the original movie “The Hustler” with Jackie Gleason. Eddie lost years of his career. He staked Vincent toget back in the game. While he was telling Vince to hold back, Eddie was playing to win. When they got to the tournament, Vince laid down to teach Eddie what it felt like to be cheated of the thrill of playing to his best ability.
