I’m talking about OLD movies…I’m posting in this section because it’s only Twilight and Harry Potter fans in the movie section. I LOVE old movies and here are some of my absolute favorites:

Come on, you guys, I can’t pick a best answer
I want to give you all BEST ANSWER!
Back in the day there were many beautiful looking young women. Even Bette Davis was a very
attractive young blonde with big blue eyes that fluttered in her character as a southern belle. Ann
Southern, was so sweet in her characters and she was a doll, even when she gained weight later in
her career. Elizabeth Taylor always was a beauty. Starting out as a child actress with Mickey Rooney, where she received that fateful fall from a horse, that has given her debilitating pain since.
Ava Gardner, was one of the extreme beauties. Her marriage to Mickey Rooney was short lived. He attained the unnatainable, the grand prize, when he married her, and regarded her as quite the acheivement when he talked her into marrying him.. Her appearance in Show Boat, remains in my mind today. It’s a shame she retired to Spain, when she was still relatively young. Vivian Leigh was the believable southern beauty, in Gone With The WInd. She was imported from Britain for the role, after every young top actress and even some middle aged, tried out for the role. Olivia De Haviland,
who was a supporting actress in that same movie, was made up to be less attractive in her role.
But cast opposite Errol Flynn in several movies, she was the epitome of youthful beauty. And she
was a successful actress until she dropped out in middle age. I may have missed a couple more beauties of the golden age of film making. But these I believe were the best in the
field.
As far as male actors of that era, I would have to say, that Errol Flynn was a beautiful looking man
when he was young and not absorbed into drugs and dope. Clark Gable was a handsom leading
man, even if he played himself in every role. He had a screen presence that was undeniable. The
same with Charlton Heston. He seemed to eat up every scene he was in. Victor Mature, was
another film star who had an amazing presence on the screen of that era. And who can forget, Alan
Ladd as Shane? Tho short in stature, he seemed to be as tall and courageous of any actor in or
out of the saddle. There was Gregory Peck, and Jimmy Stewart, Tyrone Power, Hugh O’Brian, and
Guy Madison from TV, and I believe a western or two as supporting actors. There was also a British
actor who was strikingly handsome. And his name was Richard Greene. He later went on to play
Robin Hood on TV. And Robert Mitchum was not from the golden oldies, but he came out in the
40′s and had a very romantic personna with his female co stars. One of my aunts met him on a
flight to LA and back once. They had a drink together. I wonder how she ever held her drink still with-
out spilling it. He was married to the same woman all of his life. And he seemed such a ladies man.
